Good afternoon! As you can see, I have updated our colors back to green, as we are now back in Ordinary Time! Ordinary time, however, does not mean we aren't doing extraordinary things! This weekend, as a parish, we will begin our celebration of the Jubilee year of hope proclaimed by Pope Francis. Check out the video below that we watched at Bible Study! Also below, find information about volunteering in the cold weather, and for our teens, the signups for our summer events are now available!

Music Notes
As we return to Ordinary Time this Sunday, we will be changing the music for our Mass setting. This is a familiar setting done over the years. “Mass of Christ the Savior”
Composer Dan Schutte wrote this setting in 2009 and has become one of the most well-known and used Mass Settings. The common musical motifs make it easy to sing.
And what a beautiful way to praise God by singing the prayers of the faithful. We will use this setting for the next 8 weeks. I will review some of the music in Masses over this weekend (2nd Sunday in Ordinary Time) to get everyone reacquainted with the setting.
I would like to give a huge Thank you to our Choirs (Regular, Men’s, Bell) and individual musicians and singers that helped make Christmas at St. Gabriel a time of Celebration and tradition. These people (young and old) that you see every week show us why music holds such an important position in worship. Thank you all so very much!
May you be filled with the wonder of Mary, the obedience of Joseph, the joy of the angels, the eagerness of the shepherds, the determination of the magi, and the peace of the Christ child. Amen

St. Gabriel is happy to be working with St. Paul Lutheran in Neenah for providing a warming shelter for the cold weather. See the note below from St. Paul's on how you can help with this important ministry.
St. Paul Church has been looking at opening up our Fellowship Hall on very cold days as a daytime warming shelter. We will open when temperatures fall below zero. In order to keep our daytime warming shelter guests safe (and our volunteer “staff”!) we are needing 3-4 people for each shift (8:30 am-12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.). That’s a lot of volunteers, especially if we have a cold spell that lasts a few days. We are reaching out to see if there are any people from your congregations who would be interested in volunteering. There is a training that will take place on Saturday, January 25 at 9:00 a.m.-Noon in our Fellowship Hall. We are moving quickly so we can “open up” in February if the weather gets brutal. Please share this information with anyone you can. They can contact me for more information if they’d like. We would like to know who is coming to the training so we can be best prepared, so anyone who is coming to the training should call St. Paul Church (725-3961) or email me (pastor@stpaulneenah.org).

into tireless cultivators of the seeds of the Gospel.
May those seeds transform from within both humanity and the whole cosmos
in the sure expectation
of a new heaven and a new earth,
when, with the powers of Evil vanquished,
your glory will shine eternally.
May the grace of the Jubilee
reawaken in us, Pilgrims of Hope,
a yearning for the treasures of heaven.
May that same grace spread
the joy and peace of our Redeemer
throughout the earth.
To you our God, eternally blessed,
